Time graph for Cardio Callanetics
It begins with flowing, ballet-style aerobics and ends with Callan Pinckney’s legendary “pulsed” toning technique (Callanetics was created in the 1980’s especially for dancers). The cardio segment is exceptionally fluid and elegant — a series of graceful arm movements with low-intensity foot patterns (it’s even done barefoot). The toning is truly unique. The motions are especially precise; each muscle contraction moves the body part less than an inch. But they’re intense; every pulse is repeated 50 to 70 times (fortunately, there are lots of between-move stretches). Quiet piano music and very deliberate instruction.
